Managing Partner

As Managing Partner, I am responsible for the strategic direction and future growth of the firm. I’m blessed to lead a team of talented individuals at Oxford whose expertise in portfolio design, retirement income distribution, estate planning and tax reduction strategies allow us to design innovative solutions for current and prospective clients.

My Mission:

I was called to this profession after experiencing the loss of both of my parents by the time I was in my early 30’s.  These losses were a turning point in my life and solidified my desire to leave a successful corporate career to start my own investment advisory firm dedicated to delivering high quality, objective financial advice to others.  I begin every day offering thanks for my many blessings, and approach my work with a desire to make my parents and loved ones proud.

We also believe the financial services industry is broken, and we’re here to fix it.  In response to the many failures I saw in the investment world, I created Power of 5 Investing®, a proprietary system for helping clients achieve retirement success.  Our clients can count on Clarity, Confidence and Catalyst delivered by a team that are fee-only, true fiduciaries and fiercely independent.

Background:

My formative years were split between Columbus and Middletown, Ohio.  In high school I played baseball and football (yes, seriously) for the nationally ranked Middletown Middies.  I spent my college days at Miami University where I was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and Chairman of the Board of First Miami Student Credit Union.

After serving as a CPA with Deloitte & Touche I returned to graduate school to pursue my MBA at Indiana University.  Indiana led to career opportunities in brand management at Procter & Gamble and as an officer of Western & Southern Financial Group.  In 2003, with one child at home and another on the way, I launched what would become Oxford Financial Partners.

Personal Life:

On a personal note, I…

  • Am blessed to be married to Holli for 25 years, raising two incredible kids who will both change the world

  • can be found enjoying fine Bourbon and wine with friends

Partner, Senior Advisor, CCO

As a Partner and Senior Advisor in the firm, my primary role involves preparing for and delivering advice in client meetings. I also serve as Oxford’s Chief Compliance Officer.

My Mission:

My passion for this profession comes the ability it gives me to empower clients to make their own informed financial decisions. This is not done through what I call the 3 P’s (Pontificating, Prognosticating, Product Sales), but instead by what Oxford calls the 3 C’s (Clarity, Confidence, Catalyst).

By starting with a well-thought-out, evidence-based financial planning process, we establish a working relationship where clients clearly understand what fees they are paying, and what advice they are getting for that fee. This straightforward approach, coupled with our battle-tested Power of 5 Investing® system, allows me to coach clients through good markets and bad to make sure we have actionable strategies to reach their most cherished goals.

Background:

I was born and raised in Delhi, the first of 4 boys to Pat and Jane Walsh. I grew up in Our Lady of Victory Parish, while attending C.O. Harrison, Delhi Junior High, and eventually Oak Hills where I lettered in golf and baseball. I then moved on to Miami University, where I received a degree in Finance while also pitching for the nationally ranked conference champion club baseball program.

Personal Life:

I am lucky enough to have been with Marty since 2009, married since 2012. She is the Lead Teacher at the East End Adult Education Center, doing wonderful work to provide quality educational programs aimed at increasing students' basic literacy, academic, computer, and job skills.

We have been blessed with Charlotte (2015) and Patrick (2018) who are the joy of our lives! We also have a 10-year-old rescue dog named Bailey.

I still love to play competitive golf and softball, where I play for Jake’s Automotive/Tisch Environmental/Upscale Lawncare on Monday’s nights at Westside and in the Cincinnati Metro Tournament. I am an avid Notre Dame football and UC basketball fan and enjoy relaxing and spending time with friends and family.

Senior Advisor

As a Senior Advisor in the firm, my primary role involves growing our clientele, preparing and delivering advice to my individual and business owner clients.

My Mission:

My passion for this profession comes from witnessing firsthand at a young age the importance of the financial planning process; in particular the consequences of not having an estate plan. I vowed to educate as many folks as possible on the importance of coordinating the five areas of financial planning.

By starting with a well-thought-out, evidence-based financial planning process, we establish a working relationship where clients clearly understand what fees they are paying, and what advice they are getting for that fee. This straightforward approach, coupled with our battle-tested Power of 5 Investing system, allows me to coach clients through good markets and bad to make sure we have trackable strategies to reach their goals.

Background:

I was born and raised in New Richmond, Ohio, the oldest of two to Scott and Mary. I was raised being active in all sports growing up but lettered in golf, basketball, and baseball while at New Richmond High School. Wanting to go big, I turned down offers to play baseball and basketball at the collegiate level to attend The Ohio State University where I studied Finance.

In January of 2020, I was inducted into the New Richmond High School Hall of Fame. I am very grateful and humbled to be mentioned in such a group of great athletes.

Personal Life:

Residing close to downtown Cincinnati in Newport, my passion for fitness has only grown with age. If not in the gym, I’m probably on the golf course with friends and clients.

I enjoy traveling and learning different cultures, especially the array of foods. I’m an avid big game hunter. There is no bigger serenity than being in the woods alone as the sun and nature come alive in the morning. My dad and I frequently travel out West for mule deer, elk, antelope but my heart is hunting whitetail deer on our family farm!

Certifications:

  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (2019)
  • Executive Certificate in Financial Planning - Xavier University (2019)

Education:

  • Corporate/Personal Finance, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University
